Social 121 Happy Hour~

This past Friday, I went with a few friends to check out the happy hour at Social 121. It's where Loft 610 used to be. I saw their happy hour specials on their website and it sounded like a really great deal!

Social 121
5760 State Highway 121, Ste. 175
Plano, TX 75024

Price: $ (for happy hour)

I've never been here, even back when it was Loft 610. It was way bigger than I expected. The bar was pretty big. I liked the feel and decor of the restaurant a lot...modern, kind of industrial but the lighting made it warmer. There wasn't that many people at the bar so we were able to choose where to sit.

This was their HH specials for Friday:
$2 Domestics
$3 Imports
$3 Wells
$4 Calls
$5 Premiums
Half price appetizers
$5 Flatbreads

Bar Area Only
Mon-Thur 4:30-9PM
Fri-Sat 4:30-7PM

The drink specials were really good. I got an Arnold Palmer (sweet tea vodka and lemonade) for $4~ It was tasty too!

We ordered some appetizers to share:
Black Bean Hummus (ground chickpeas, roasted corn, black beans, grilled pita bread) $7~ This was super good! I really liked the curry powder they sprinkled on the pita bread. It added a little bit of heat to the dish. The bread was warm and thin. The hummus was full of flavor and I liked the corn and beans on top... added more texture. And for HH it was only $3.50!! That's awesome!

Braised Pork Pot Stickers (ginger, shallots, garlic, cilantro, pineapple soy glaze) $10~ The value of this wasn't as good as the hummus I thought. But the potstickers were pretty good. I could really taste the flavor of the pork and it was quite tender. $5 for HH!!

Habanero-Soy Glazed Pork Belly (sesame seed crusted watermelon, cucumber, crispy carrots) $10~ They had won 1st Place in the 2011 Taste of Dallas with this dish. It was quite small...but man it was so yummy! The sear on the outside of the pork belly was nice and crispy while the meat is still juicy and tender. There was just the right amount of fat (in my opinion.. haha. cuz I love fatty meats). The flavor was great. I loved the sauce as well as the presentation. I even liked the crispy carrots on top! (I really don't like carrots usually.) It added a nice crunch. For $5 I would order 2 of these. haha!!

Grilled Chicken Flatbread (pepper jack cheese, roasted peppers, portobello mushrooms) $10~ This was a killer deal. The portion size was really big! And it's only $5! I liked the crunchiness of the flatbread. But I thought it was lacking some sort of flavor...some heat. I got my trusty Tabasco (which they didn't have...I had a mini bottle in my purse! LOL!!) :P And it definitely kicked it up a notch. I still want to try their other flatbreads though.

This was an awesome place for happy hour. I loved the venue, the music was great (they had live music), and food was pretty tasty! It's a super good deal!! And our waitress was great! I will definitely be going back in the near future! Now I'm interested in trying their regular menu as well~

  1. You have not lived until you've tasted Social 121's Crab Cakes. I am not normally a fan of crab cakes, but found theirs to be fresh, well seasoned, melt-in-your mouth delectable, with a sauce that awakened my palette & had me wanting for more from the first bite.
I highly recommend Social 121. It is a classy, elegant establishment offering quality service and cuisine that is nothing less than a carnival for one's tastebuds.

  2. I agree, Joie. I went back to Social 121 again and tried the Crab Cakes and got the Pork Belly again! The crab cakes were cool looking too! Not like your typical flat cakes. I loved the crispy outside. :) It's definitely a great hh place~ I want to go for dinner one day.
