Gluten-Free Cakes @ Kozy

Kozy Kitchen

Price: $ (for dessert)

A group of us went to Kozy Kitchen this past weekend to have some dessert to celebrate a couple birthdays. We wanted to give Kozy a try because all of their cakes are gluten free! If they're good then that's totally awesome!

From the website, their food looked great as well. They serve organic and gluten-free foods. All the meats are grass-fed, etc. I would definitely like to go there for a meal sometime.

Since we had dinner elsewhere, we went there for dessert. We arrived about 20 minutes before close with more than 10 people, but they were more than happy to serve us. :) By then the restaurant was pretty empty. The decor inside wasn't as nice as I expected seeing the food pics on their website... The waiter was very friendly though.

Everyone ordered some cakes to share. All their cakes are gluten free and $5 a piece. I think that's a pretty good price for homemade cake.

"OMG" Cake (chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse, dusted with cocoa powder) $5~ When the waiter was describing this it sounded sooo amazing. Unfortunately it was super dry... I'm thinking because its gluten free? The peanut butter "mousse" was not really a mousse... more like pb ganache. Super thick and dense. It overwhelmed the cake. Flavors were ok, just dry and texturally miss the mark. :(

Carrot Cake $5~ This was also quite dry. The flavors were fine though.

Oreo Cake (marshmallow frosting with espresso and dusted with oreo bits) $5~ This is off the menu, the waiter recommended it. Delicious!! And SUPER moist! I don't know how and why they made this cake differently but it was sooo moist. It's also gluten free, so I'm not sure why they can't do the same with the other cakes. The marshmallow frosting added a nice slight chewy texture. The oreo sprinkles added just a hint of chocolate. And you can taste the coffee, but it wasnt' overpowering. We basically just passed this cake around the table and devoured it!

I think they should look into making all the cakes the same way as the Oreo Cake... And I still would like to go back and try their actual food. The prices seem pretty decent and service was good. We stayed about 40 minutes after closing and they didn't try to rush us. :)
