Back in Feb, my coworkers and I went out for lunch to celebrate one of my coworker's 10 year anniversary. My boss was going to be out of the office so put me in charge of making the plans. I gave my coworker a few restaurant suggestions and we decided on Mesero on Henderson. I drive by this place weekly when I go work out and always wanted to check it out. Plus I've heard that their Cinco Leches cake is no joke. :)

Since the lunch was on the company, we kinda let loose. hehehe.
Chips and Salsas. There were 3 types of salsas. I can't accurately tell you which is which but I liked the middle one most cuz it was chunky. I liked the texture of their chips too.
Micorita (herradura "el jimador", frozen or rocks) $11~ We only got 1 for like 6 people. But shhhh... don't tell the boss! ha! :P
Queso Mesero (queso chihuahua, spinach, artichoke, poblano pepper) $10.95~ Yum! This queso was rich and cheesy. Paired well with the guac.
Aguacates "Guacamole" Tipico (avocado, lime, tomatillo) $10.95~ Loved it. I'll eat avocados any way.
Shrimp Ceviche (tiger shrimp marinated in citrus fruit, serrano pepper, heirloom grape tomato, avocado) $14.95~
Totally not what I expected. Upon first glance, it looked like a block of avocados. Not that I'm complaining. But once you scoop into it, you find the large chungs of shrimp. They definitely didn't skimp on the shrimp. it was perfectly plump and fresh. And more avo! We probably had about a dozen avocados during this meal. hahaha. Plus this dish is just beautiful. Full of vibrant colors.
Las Combinaciones (crema queso chicken enchilada, tejano enchilada, arroz rojo; served with choice of black or pinto beans) $11.95~ One of my coworkers ordered this because he loves crema queso chicken enchiladas. He said it was really good.
The rest of us did family style and ordered a bunch of different things to share.
Crispy "Daily Fish" Tacos (fish of the day, lightly battered, roasted corn, tomato, spicy ranch sauce, mesero slaw, arroz blanco) $12.95~ I'm not sure what the fish was but this was one of my favorites. Loved the charred corn in the tacos. The slaw was yummy too!
Pollo Tacos (roasted achiote chicken, iceberg, tomato, avocado, sauteed onion, arroz rojo) $11.95~ Also good, and very large.
Carne Asada Especial (10 oz grilled skirt steak, onion, serrano pepper, arroz rojo, pinto beans) $21.95~ Yum! The steak was cooked well. Quite tender even though it didn't look it.
Brussels Sprouts (serrano mango glazed) $7~ I'm allergic to mango so we got it without the glaze. A little greasy but still yummy. I'm a sucker for roasted brussels sprouts.
OMG. This was a ton of food but we had to have dessert!!!
Pastel Cinco Leches $7~ The one I've heard so much about. It did not disappoint. It was so moist and fluffy and it wasn't even drowning in milk like some other places try to do. I hate it when they drown it in milk and the cake itself is STILL dry. This was perfect. Not too heavy. Everyone loved it.
Choco Flan (chocolate cake, caramel flan) $7~ This was cool looking. But honestly, I could've done without one or the other. The flan was great on its own. And the chocolate on its own. Together, it didn't blow me away.
It was a great meal. Everything was yummy and fresh and soooooo much avocados! haha. Our waiter checked on us a lot though out the meal. It was definitely a great team outing. And save room for the Cinco Leches cake!

I was meeting up with a friend for dinner a couple weeks ago. I suggested Lekka since I've been meaning to go try it. One of my friends told me it's really good and the reviews online were also great. It's where Obzeets used to be, and they've got a pretty awesome patio. Now... we just need cooler weather!

I was meeting my friend at 6:30PM, but I decided to go there early and do some work. I arrived around 4:30PM and decided to get dessert first. :P I've heard amazing things about their cakes and pies as well. The dessert case was pretty sparse that day, but everything they had in there looked good.
I decided to get a slice of the Banana Caramel Pecan Pie $6~ And a cup of hot tea.
An elderly gentleman at the restaurant was telling me that their desserts are the best and they don't skimp on the portions. Soon after, the waitress brought my pie, and O.M.G... it was like 2 slices of pie as one. O.O WHOA!! This thing was massive and so amazing looking. I think I almost cried! haha. And it sure was tasty! The loads of caramel made it a tad too sweet for me, but pairing it with a hot tea was great. I had to will myself to stop eating since I was still having dinner! :P
Once my friend arrived, we perused the menu. It was still Happy Hour! And she got an appetizer.
Warm Artichoke Dip (blend of cheese, spinach, artichokes; served with tortilla chips and salsa) $5~ It was a lot of food. The dip was cheesy and gooey. Can't say I've had an artichoke dip I haven't liked yet. haha.
She ordered the Veggie Tramezzini (mozzarella, spinach, artichokes, roasted red pepper) $9~
A tramezzini is a grilled Stuffed Pita Bread. All tramezzinis are served with side house salad or Ribbon Fries. My friend chose the fries since the waitress recommended it. It was a lot of food. With a huge side of fries. The tramezzini was good and so were the fries. She said it reminded her of Arby's fries. Me? I like pretty much anything fried and these fries were perfectly crispy, and can still taste the potato.
I got the Texan Tramezzini (fiesta blend, pico de gallo, guacamole, grilled chicken; served with salsa for dipping) $10~ With Side House Salad and house vinaigrette.
This is basically a loaded quesadilla. There was plenty of chicken and cheese. The outside was nice and crisp. Yum! I'd totally get this again.
We had a good time. The food portions were large and quality was good. I had half to go for my lunch the next day. The service was good too and decor is very eclectic. They have a store section where you can buy stuff, and the big, covered patio in the back.

I've never been a fan of Tex-Mex... I always find it a bit repetitive. But... I LOVE Mexican food. There's a big difference!
Two of my friends were in town for the weekend from NYC so of course Mexican food is on their list. I found this place and they had mole!! OMG! I love mole and ever since I had it again in Cancun, I was dreaming about it. So I suggested this place.

I didn't even know about this place! It had really high Yelp reviews too. Looks promising! We arrived on a Saturday around 6:30PM. The place wasn't completely full but business was pretty good. I thought the decor was nice. Casual yet somewhat elegant.
We got some complimentary chips with salsa and black bean dip. The salsa had a kick to it! :) And the black bean dip was almost as good as the ones at Gloria's... almost... hehe.
Mango Strawberry Frozen Margarita. My friend got one of these. It was really pretty. And she said it was good. I couldn't try it though since I'm allergic to mango. I'll take her word for it though.
Chile Con Queso. Her husband had thought this was "chili" so he was a little surprised. teehee. But this was really good. He totally enjoyed it. It was great with the chips and the salsa.
Pollo Oaxaca (chicken breast simmered in Oaxaqueno Mole served with beans refritos and arroze blanco) $14.99?~

I already knew I was going to get this. Normally I see mole on enchiladas, which I always end up subbing the corn tortilla with flour. But this is perfect because there's no tortilla at all (less heavy)! It was delicious. The mole wasn't as good as the one from Mexico, but it was still really tasty. Lots of complex flavors with that tiny hint of sweet from the addition of chocolate. Just a disclaimer: I am by no means an expert on mole. I just know what tastes good to me. hehe. The chicken was super tender. I didn't even use a knife. I loved the pairing with the sauce and the rice. I asked to sub the beans for veggies. It was the perfect side to the chicken and rice. I also liked the slaw on the side. The whole thing was great. I would totally go back and get this again. And it was a big portion too. I took almost half of it home. And it was still good the next day when I had it for lunch. :)
Carne Asada (grilled steak or grilled chicken breast served with Mexican rice, Sopa de Frijol, guacamole and pico de gallo). My friends shared this since they weren't too hungry. Also a good sized portion. The guac was very good. And the Mexican rice had good flavor. They both liked it.
Tres Leches Cake. I love tres leches so I ordered it before I even finished my dinner. Even though I wasn't that hungry either. haha. It was good, not the best I've had but I would get it again. I wish they had served it on its side with more milk to soak up but it was still surprisingly moist and fluffy.
Sorry I didn't include the prices. I forgot to take a picture of the menu... But both dishes were arond $14-15 which was decent for the portion size. And my friends paid for me... again... Sigh. Everytime they come visit, they always end up grabbing the check. I feel bad. I'll get them one day! haha. And I have such awesome friends. :D
It was a great dinner. Our waiter was also really nice and attentive. The ambiance was nice. I will be back for sure!

Bin 303 only does brunch on the 2nd and last Sunday of each month so we usually miss it. But this past weekend, my bf's parents happened to be here and it was the 2nd Sunday! We jumped at the opportunity to take them to brunch. :)

We arrived around 11:30AM and there were only a couple other tables taken. It was a unusually quiet day. But that's fine, that just means we get the place to ourselves! :P
Everything I've had there in the past were good but I wanted to try something else. So I got the Texan Style Bin Benedict with Hollandaise (Nueske smoked bacon, avocado, tomato, english muffin, poached egg) $13~
I love eggs benedict, mainly because of the hollandaise sauce, and it did not disappoint. Every part of this dish was good. Starting with the two perfectly poached eggs on top. It was glorious as I cut into it and the yolk runs out.

I liked this twist on eggs benedict... the addition of avocado and tomato was nice. I like both of those. The avocado added another layer of richness to the dish. And the tomatoes provided freshness, I did wish there was a little bit more tomatoes. I also really liked that they cubed the English muffins so I didn't really have to cut anything. It was already bite sized! And the yolk and hollandaise soaking into the bread was delightful. It would get partially softened by the yolk and sauce but still have parts that are crunchy and toasted. Different textures, that's my thing! The roasted potatoes had that lightly burnt/crispy edges which I like. They had lots of flavor too. Went well with the eggs and English muffin. My bf really liked this too, said I had the best dish of the day.
He got Kammer's Choice of Quiche (with mixed greens and balsamic dressing) $9~
The quiche of the day was spinach, bell pepper and goat cheese. I'm not a fan of goat cheese so it wasn't even up for consideration for me. haha. I did try a bite though. Despite the goat cheese, which I still didn't like, the quiche texture was great. The eggy center was fluffy and the crust was buttery. The salad was good too, I liked the dressing and wasn't overpowering. He ended up trading half his plate with his mom and she cleaned the plate!
Both his parents opted for the Breakfast Quesadilla with Seasonal Fresh Fruit (eggs, cheese, bacon, potato, red pepper, onion, house roasted salsa) $10~
Biggest quesadillas ever. They were really loaded up with eggs, potato and bacon. I tried a few bites and it's delicious. I love any kind of breakfast burritos/tacos/quesadillas and this was good! The salsa was a nice compliment too.
It was a nice quiet brunch on a lazy Sunday.
They certainly don't skimp on the portions here. Haven't had a bad dish at brunch yet! If you haven't been, I suggest you go. :)

A new crepe place recently opened up in Addison. I was pretty ecstatic. I love crepes! And the menu looked pretty awesome.
The chef is apparently the personal chef to our very own Dallas Mavericks Tyson Chandler. There's even a crepe named after him on the menu. haha. Go Mavs!
Flippin' Out Crepes

I realized after reading a few reviews that this place is tiny and is only for to-go orders. They have a drive-thru or you can go inside and order to go. Not the most ideal way to eat a crepe in my opinion... But just last week they put some picnic tables outside. Although those won't be useful until the fall when this insane heat is over..
Since its not the best idea to get a large group to try this place out, I went with 2 other friends. And we planned on taking the crepes back to my friend's apartment to chow down.
Walking in, yea... the place is TINY! The guy at the register was really friendly. And you can see the other people in the kitchen right behind him making crepes and stuff.
There were so many different ones I wanted to try. I had 3 choices for the savory crepe. I decided on the Cuban (Slow roasted pork, pickles & onion topped with Dijon mustard and Swiss cheese) $7.80~ The guy at the register said that was his favorite, so I was like "ok, I'll trust your suggestion!"
The crepes were nicely packed in a plastic container and came with mixed sweet potato and taro chips and salsa. The salsa was fantastic!! The crepe looked really good, but it was a little hard to eat. You really needed a fork and knife. I was quite disappointed. The pork had nice flavor, but was seriously overcooked. It was dry and instead of a nice crispy crust, it was hard... :( I liked the addition of the dijon and pickles but it was lacking a sauce. The entire thing was a little dry. Also, I noticed that they were making crepes ahead of time and just reheating it on the griddle when an order came in. I think that's a big mistake. The crepe is no longer fresh, and its not hot enough to melt the cheese inside. We got just random chunks of swiss cheese inside the crepe. If it was gooey and melty that would've made it soo much better. I ended up pouring all the salsa into the crepe. And the salsa was the best part of the entire dish! Sigh... not a good sign.
My friend got the Philly Cheese Crepe (thinly sliced ribeye, Provolone, carmelized onions & bell peppers) $7.90~
This was one of my top choices as well. Again...needs sauce!! It was too dry. The cheese wasn't melted. You can't have a philly cheese and not have melty cheese!! The flavors were ok, just wasn't all that spectacular. And she didn't get any salsa... booo...
I also thought the prices were a tad high. Since we are not able to dine in the store, I feel like it should be cheaper than restaurant food... Don't you think??
We also got 2 sweet crepes to share.
I chose the Tiramisu (Creamy mascarpone cheese laced with espresso topped with
chocolate and caramel sauce) $5.90~
The sweet crepe and savory crepe batters are different I believe. The savory crepes are a little softer, more pancake-y. The sweet crepes were a little harder, but since it was pre-made then reheated... it got hard instead of crispy. It was a little hard to even cut through with the weak plastic knife. I liked this cuz it was chocolatey, but if you didn't tell me it was tiramisu... I would've never guessed it. First of all, usually in a tiramisu the mascarpone/cream part is white. This one was completely mixed with chocolate so it looked more like chocolate mousse. Second, I didn't taste the espresso part...just chocolate. But you can never go wrong with chocolate, the filling was still tasty. Just didn't care for the texture of the actual crepe.
We also got the Nutella (Buttery chocolate hazelnut spread with bananas & strawberries) $4.90~
This is as standard as you can get for a crepe. I thought there was enough fruit to sauce to crepe ratio. So that was good. But again, tough crepe.. I've had much better sweet crepes than this.
Tear... I'm sad that this was so disappointing. It was such a cute little shop and interesting concept. Plus all the past reviews have been really great. Makes me wonder if they were just having an off day. But I really don't think they should pre-make the crepes. That changes the texture when they reheat them to assemble. I mean, I kinda understand since they are drive-thru that they need to get it out faster, but still...there needs to be another way.
However, their Granita (frozen Espresso) 16oz. $3.50~ is delicious. I NEVER drink coffee, but they gave me a sample and I actually ordered my first coffee drink in my entire life! :) It was like drinking melted coffee ice cream in a slushy. haha. If you like sweet coffees, you'll probably like this!
Anyways, I might give them another shot sometime in the future. Hopefully during this time they will tweak their recipes/operations a bit too... In the mean time, if you want crepes, Cafe Flair in Frisco is pretty good! :)
