I went to The Fatted Calf 2 weeks ago for brunch.
I love brunchy food and their menu sounded yummy.

It's located in downtown Rockwall, which is pretty
small. Reminded me of an even smaller version of
downtown Plano. The decor is pretty eclectic. I
liked the wood panels and animal hide as
decoration. I also liked the art on the walls.
Everything sounded good but I love me some
pancakes so I went with that!
Pancakes (with blueberries and granola) $7.50~
(plus $1 for 2nd topping).
It comes with 2 per
order. They were pretty big! Not the best pancakes I've ever had, but pretty damn good. Fresh berries on top and inside the pancakes, crunchy granola, fluffy pancakes. No complaints! I'm especially glad I added the granola, added a crunch and nuttiness to it. :) I ate it all!!!! haha.
They had a jar of homemade Strawberry Preserves at
the table. It was awesome! I put that on my
pancakes and it made it even better. We had
finished pretty much the entire jar at the end of
the meal. hahaha.
The Monterey Omelette (avocado, local tomatoes,
fresh mozzarella, spinach; with side of wheat
toast and hashbrowns) $8.50~
My bf ordered this.
The omlette was fresh and yummy. A little smaller
than I expected but with the sides, it was still a
big portion. I asked for the hashbrowns extra
crispy and they were delish! The strawberry
preserves on the toast...NOM!!
It was a great late brunch. No complaints from
either of us. And the waitress told us you can buy
their preserves in the shop next door! (Too bad it
wasn't open on Sundays, cuz we wanted some!)

alone should tell you they got some tasty food!

This past Saturday turned out to be "Pancake Day". haha. It was unintentional but just happened that way. :P I love pancakes...any kind. I prefer them over French Toast and waffles too!
The day started with a late brunch at 5th Street Patio Cafe in downtown Frisco. It's a cute little house turned restaurant. The food is home-cooked and yummy. I sooo wanted to be good and get a salad or something, but the pancakes just kept jumping out at me.

Blueberry Buttermilk Pancakes.
My friend subbed her toast for a pancake, but I didn't think 1 was enough so I asked if they could add another one. I think that was a mistake. The pancakes are huge! haha. And neither of us were really that hungry. But guess what... I killed it. of course.. -__- It was yummy and full of fresh blueberries. :)

For dinner, I ended up at Coffee House Cafe. I like this place... the service is hit or miss but their food is pretty good. Luckily our waiter this time was pretty awesome.

Again, I wasn't too hungry and had every intention to eat well, but the waiter was telling us about their pancakes and how awesome they are so he talked my friend into ordering one.
Buckwheat Granola Pancakes (with berries on top) 3 per order $8.25~
We added berries to it as recommended by the waiter. It was a good rec! The pancakes were also very large...and yummy. I loved the granola in it. So nutty and added nice texture. You almost don't need syrup! ...almost... haha. I always have to have syrup on my pancakes! :P
But I did order a side salad!! So I was still able to get my veggies in for the day. hahaha.

It was a good day of indulgence. I'd recommend both of these places for pancakes or just any type of brunchy foods!

Saturday night we planned on hitting up Hash House a Go Go, a place where EVERYONE told me to go! And I've seen pictures of the food and it looks pretty epic! It made my list for sure!

They have 3 locations in Vegas with only one on the strip inside Imperial Palace which is currently undergoing renovations to become The Quad Resort. Since we had no car, that's where we went. We arrive around 11:15PM...we were still so full from lunch so it was a super late dinner! The place was pretty empty to my surprise. I wonder if the original location off the strip is busier than that.
There were 3 of us so we got 2 things to share. Of course we had to get the famous Sage Fried Chicken & Waffles (two sage fried chicken breasts with hardwood smoked bacon waffle tower, hot maple reduction and fried leeks) $15.95~ New York Times favorite.
I've seen so many people take pictures of this dish and it looked amazing. Stacked up high full of bacon, waffles and fried chicken. I was very excited to finally try this. However, I wasn't impressed...by the taste. It was as big as I imagined but the waffles were a bit dense and not crispy on the outside. I did like the massive amounts of bacon in the waffle though. The chicken had a great batter and the crispy skin was the best part. The chicken itself was dry and slightly bland. I threw some tabasco on there and solved that problem! :P I mean, it was fine, but after all the hype I was disappointed.
We also got the HH Famous Flapjacks (Blackberry granola) $7.95~ Plus whipped cream +$0.95~
I loveee pancakes and this one was soooo good! First of all, it was huge! At least the size of a medium pizza. The flapjack is different than other pancakes I've had before, the texture was a bit more spongey? The granola was my favorite part and they weren't stingy with it. Added a great nuttiness and crunchy texture. Topped with butter, maple syrup and whipped cream... YUM!
I was super stuffed! I wasn't even hungry to begin with. haha. But I definitely ate more than my fair share of the flapjack. We couldn't finish the chicken and waffles though. I wouldn't mind going back in the future to try some other dishes, or to get another flapjack (they have a bunch of different flavors). This location is open until 1AM.
