I recently heard about this place in Frisco, took a look at the menu and immediately decided I need to go. haha. Three Squares opened on July 4th so it's only been about 2 weeks. It's located right in front of the Cinemark entrance in Frisco Square.

I liked the decor. It's very open with large windows so it's nice and bright. They've got a good size patio area too. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I had a hard time deciding what I wanted.. Too many good choices vs debating on whether to stay healthier or not. hahaha. But if you look at the menu, it's easier to be bad than good. :P
I opted for "BFD" Breakfast For Dinner (slow roasted pork belly, sunny side up egg, house made pork hash, sweet potato fries, belgian waffle, maple syrup, horseradish aioli) $12~
I love breakfast food any time of day so this is perfect. Plus it's got a little bit of everything I wanted to try. And then of course... PORK BELLY! Can't turn that down. The dish wasn't as big as I was expecting it to be, but that's quite alright. It was plenty filling for me. The pork belly was tender with a nice amount of fat and paired well with the pork hash, which was a tad dry. The waffles were great. Nice and fluffy and the maple syrup just made it better. I think the dish can be plated differently? The egg covering the pork made it less impressive. I had to move things around to get a picture of all the elements. haha. Oh.. and they left out the sweet potato fries so I told the waiter. They brought me an entire side of sweet potato fries. Holla!
Sweet Potato Fries (smoky ranch) $3~
These were fantastic!! Super hot, just made, thick cut. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. I'd say one of the best sweet potato fries I've ever had. And I've had LOTS of sweet potato fries! The smoky ranch dip went really well with it. I also dipped some in my maple syrup! What What?! hahaha. It was awesome! :P
Here are some stuff my friends got. We had a big group so I was able to sample lots of different things! :)
Vinney's Grandma's Chicken Parmesan (breaded chicken, marinara, mozzarella, taleggio, parmesan, fusilli pasta) $13~
This was a giant dish. The chicken cutlet was bigger than my face! It was fried nicely too. And a giant heap of cheese on top... a bit too much I think. haha. But you can always scrape it off, which my friend did. The marinara had good flavor. She ate it all! I was impressed! hehe.
Caprese Pasta (vine-ripe tomatoes, roasted garlic, mozzarella, basil pesto cream sauce, parmesan, fusilli pasta) $10~
This was pretty good. I only tried a little bite but I liked the pesto cream sauce. Throw some bacon bits or pork belly in there and I think they'd have a winner. :P
Tots (horseradish aioli) $3~ The tots were fried well. I liked them a lot.
Housemade Pork Hash (honey baked ham, crispy carnitas, warm dijon potato salad) $5~ The hash on its own was meh. It was kinda dry. It was much better in my BFD. My friend didn't care for it.
Hogs Heaven (slow roasted pork belly, smoky cheddar, grilled red onions, lettuce, tomato, mustard seed ketchup, brioche bun) $10~
They brand their buns... that's pretty cool. hehe. Looked pretty good with the slab of pork belly on there. I didn't like the giant layer of cheddar cheese though. My friend said it was pretty good, not great.
Three Squares Burger (housemade pork hash, smoky cheddar, sunny side up egg, lettuce, tomato, smoky ranch, brioche bun) $9~ This looked awesome. The egg was runny and the yolk poured all over the burger. Yum. haha. I didn't get to try it but I heard it was good.
Philly Chicken (garlic roasted chicken, seasonal farm roasted vegetables, caramelized onions, jalapenos, provolone, mustard dressing, ciabatta) $8~ This looked pretty good too. Didn't get to sample any myself. But my friend really liked it.
I liked the food and the ambiance. It would be a great brunch place. Plus I gotta go back and try their S'mores French Toast! OMG!!! haha. The waiters are all very nice as well. The food took a while to come out but that may just be because it just opened. I'll definitely be back!

I went with some friends to see Green Day's American Idiot at the Winspear in downtown. I took this opportunity to go check out The Commissary in One Arts Plaza. I've been wanting to go there for some time and it's just been too far to venture out.

We were seated immediately and waited for the rest of our party to show up. Dallas traffic on a Friday night is horrible!!
Our waitress came by to take our drink orders and bring us water. She was nice. Chatted with us a bit and we told her we were going to the show. When the rest of my friends showed up we were ready to order. The service was a bit slow, cuz we had to wait a while for the waitress to come back to take our order. But the restaurant was pretty packed and we weren't super rushed to eat.
There were several burgers I wanted to try. My first choice, The Head to Toe Burger, ran out. Boooo... :( So I opted for The Magic Burger (aged cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, lettuce, tomato, red onion, toasted english muffin; served with side of skinny fries) $9~
This sounded interesting mainly because of the english muffin. It looked good and tasted great. The beef patty was cooked well and really juicy. The burger also had good flavor. I liked the english muffin, it wasn't too much bread and held up well to the ingredients. The skinny fries were cooked well too.
One friend got the The Upstream Sandwich (blackened salmon filet, bacon, lettuce, tomato, wasabi mayo on a brioche bun) $15~ Substitute fries for side salad +$2~
We decided to share our orders so I got a couple bites of this. The salmon was a decent size and I loved the crispy sear on the outside. It was a little hard to eat though since the fish would fall apart or slide out from the bread. The flavors were good. I enjoyed it.
The BIG TEX Burger (ancho chili rubbed, salsa cruda, avocado relish, pickled jalapenos, chipotle mayo, lettuce, tomato on a sesame bun; served with side of sweet potato tots) $9~
I didn't try this but my friend seemed to like it. The avocado relish and pickled jalapeno sounded like it would go really well on the burger. I did try the sweet tots. It was nice and crispy on the outside which I liked but the inside was a bit mushy on the inside.
The Tandoori Burger (tandoori spice rubbed ground lamb, cucumber, arugula, tomato and tzatziki in a toasted pita; served with side of sweet potato tots) $16~
I wouldn't call this a burger since it was served in a pita. And I'm not a fan of lamb so I didn't try it. My friend loved it!
We also got the Avocado Fries $6~
It was highly recommended online. It was a bit expensive for what we got but it was good. Different... The avocado inside was really soft from the frying and it paired well with the crispy tempura shell.
Overall, I really liked everything I tried. The burgers were all cooked well and tasty. It was a bit expensive though...

Went with a couple friends to check out Yourway Burgers a few weeks ago. We came across this place online while trying to find somewhere for dinner. The reviews were all pretty good so we were sold! It's located on Midway and Alpha...not a location I frequent often...Yourway Burgers

This is one of those order at the counter, build your own burgers kind of place. The only unique thing is that if you order a certain kind of patty, they mix all the fillings inside the patty. That sounded pretty cool, right?
Taken from their website: "So here is how it works - Step into Yourway, Build your own gourmet burger by filling out a check sheet that offers 6 types of meats, 6 types of buns, 6 types of cheeses, 6 infusable toppings and 6 delicious types of fries. Our 340,000+ different combinations make every order as unique as each customer."
So we studied the forms and I made my choices. I like the fact that you can all in most of the fillings without extra charge. But unfortunately, since I chose Turkey burger, they did not mix the stuff inside the patty. They said they just sauteed it and put it on top. That's fine w/ me.
From what I remember, I got the turkey patty, on wheat buns, with onions, red peppers, mushrooms, jalapenos, red pepper flakes, fried egg, and pepper jack cheese. I'm sure I'm leaving off some stuff but you get the idea...basically everything I can choose w/o paying extra! haha. (Except the egg...that was an additional charge.)
I also got the combo meal which comes with a side and drink. It's a better deal if you wanted to order a side anyways. I picked the tater tots with the cajun seasoning. The combo came out to be around $10.50 or so. Not too shabby for that amount of food.
They give you a buzzer thing to wait for your order. Then there's a condiments bar on the side where you can add lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, and all different types of sauces.
The burger looked really good but I was disappointed. There wasn't much flavor. All I could taste were the red pepper flakes. And the juices from the meat and all the toppings made the bottom bun incredibly soggy. Ew... I kinda regret not getting the beef patty so I can get all the toppings infused in the bun...makes for a cleaner burger I would think. The tater tots were pretty awesome. Fried perfectly! The only complaint is the seasoning...nothing cajun about it. All I got was salt and sugar. Still tasty, but not what I expected.
Overall, it was ok. I would recommend their sides for sure. The fries and tater tots were all nice and crispy. The burgers.....I've had wayyy better. No need to drive out to that area to get this. Village Burger Bar still one of my favorites!!
