Amazeballz Cake Balls

This is a recent discovery of mine. Thanks to Instagram! I'm obsessed with IG since I post food pics all the time, but then I also find out new places from other people's posts. I noticed that @amazeballz_cakeballs was following me so I clicked into her link. Apparently they have a shop in downtown Plano! AND... I just happen to be going to dinner in downtown Plano that weekend! AND the store closes right before our dinner reservation!!! This is meant to be. I made sure we had extra time to get to downtown Plano to swing by Amazeballz.

Amazeballz
930 E 15th St #200
Plano, TX 75074
(214) 223-8044

Price: $

We got there about 20 minutes before they closed at 6PM. I got to meet Jaime, the owner. She was super nice and gave us the run down of the flavors. They've only been in that space for about 3-4 months and business is already booming. They also have "boozeballs" btw... inflused with liquor. Wow. :P And their cake balls are slightly bigger than I've seen in other places.

We got a Dozen Cake Balls $20~ 6 for ourselves, and 6 for my friends who are having the birthday dinner later.

From top left, clockwise to bottom left.
S'mores, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Oreo, Lemon, S'mores, Oreo, Italian Cream Cake, Chocolate Raspberry, Birthday Cake, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Cherry Vanilla, Chocolate Maple Bacon (flavor of the month).

The cake balls in general are all super super moist. And beautifully decorated. The S'mores one is super cute!! My personal favorite was the Flavor of the Month: Chocolate Maple Bacon
The ratio of savory bacon to sweet cake was perfect. The bacon bits were quite large but not greasy. And it was so big! I tried to savor it so I took small bites. I got like 8 bites outta that thing! My fiance and I also loved the Chocolate Peanut Butter
So rich and peanut buttery. Actually, everything was good. There wasn't one that we didn't like....just some even more than others. And kept in the fridge a few days, they still tasted like new. :)

Next time I'm in the area, I'll definitely hit them up again.

Bliss Cupcakes & Confections

I got a recommendation on Friday from Jeanine at Dallas by Chocolate of a great cupcake place up in Allen. She's tried many cupcake shops all over town and assured me that Bliss Cupcakes & Confections definitely stood out among the rest.

Bliss Cupcakes & Confections
190 East Stacy Road, #1414
Allen, TX 75002
(972) 912-3155
http://blisscupcakesdfw.com/
Price: $

I was lucky enough to be eating dinner in the area later that day and decided to pop by the shop to check it out. It's in The Village at Allen. That place has expanded so much it was a little difficult to find it. The shop was cute. Very pink! haha.

I was very warmly greeted by the staff. And the first thing I noticed was that their cupcakes were massive!! And then saw that their cake pops were also massive! OMG!
And they also make this thing called Cake Parfaits where they layer cupcakes, custard and frosting.
Geez! It sounds and looks too sinful even for me! And their Cake Pops are only $1.99. And being at least 30% bigger than normal cake balls, that's a killer price!

I wanted to try everything but was too full from dinner. I ended up with 2 cupcakes. The cupcakes are AT LEAST 30% bigger than normal cupcakes and each one is $3.99. Not bad for the size.

Chocolate with Cream Cheese Frosting (moist chocolate cake frosted with cream cheese icing topped with chocolate sprinkles).
The chocolate cake was moist, fluffy and not too sweet. I really liked it. It kinda reminded me of the Betty Crocker Super Moist Dark Chocolate cake. haha. The cream cheese frosting is different than normal cream cheese frostings. I think it had more butter or sugar in it instead of the cream cheese? I prefer having more cream cheesy flavor in my frostings. Overall a good cupcake.

Tres Leches (rich butter cake soaked in a sweet three milk cream, frosted with creamy caramel icing drizzled with caramel).
The lady told me that this cake needed to be refrigerated if not eaten within the next hour or two. It was really good. I could actually see the milk in the cake, making it super moist. The cake was also very fluffy. The frosting was a caramel frosting. It definitely had a lot of caramel flavor. I liked the creamy consistency of it. The cupcake is even better if you let it sit out and get to room temperature. The frosting melts just a little and the texture is perfect. I did feel the the frosting was bit sweet though. But it was still delicious.

They also offer an option of creating your own cupcakes. You pick the cake, the filling and frosting for $3.99 each. That's pretty cool.

It's a great place and the cupcakes are legit. If you are in the area, definitely go check them out. :) Thanks for the recommendation!

Sugarbox in Plano

I went to Sugarbox this past weekend. It's a new cupcake and dessert bar in the Shops at Legacy in Plano. Personally I don't think we need more cupcake places in Dallas but this place seemed different than other regular bakeries.

Sugarbox Cupcakes and Dessert Bar
7300 Lone Star Dr. Ste C
Plano, TX 75024
(214) 522-2224
http://sugarboxdessertbar.com/
Price: $

They sell cupcakes, cake balls, and Parisian macarons. The unique thing about this cupcake place is that they also offer wines along with your dessert. You don't typically see that in Dallas. And they are open late! I hate that most bakeries close their doors by 5 or 6pm. It's hard to ever go there when people have to work full time!

I went with a few friends. Walking in, I loved the decor! It was modern, bright and open. It's quite minimal but the few accent decorations were very nice. Plus they have a really cool faux fireplace on the wall. It has a pretty hip vibe.

The dessert selection and flavors were fairly standard. They didn't have a lot of weird or wacky flavor combinations like some other cupcake places. Everything looked clean and fresh though.

Cupcakes/each $3.25~
Cakeballs/each $2.25~

2 of my friends got...
Creme de la Cookie Cupcake (Oreo Cookies & Cream) This was highly recommended by the girl behind the counter. My friends got this. They really liked it. I only tried a bite of the cake part. It was very fluffy and not too sweet.
Strawberry Cakeball. Really moist inside. My friends enjoyed it.

I shared with another friend...
Strawberry Cupcake. It was delicious! The cake was fluffy as well and the icing was really fresh and light. Not heavily sugared and overly sweet. The texture was nice as well. It paired well with the lightness of the cake.
Birthday Cakeball. The cake looked dry when we cut into it. But it was more moist than it looked.
Red Velvet Cakeball. SUPER moist. YUMMY!

Brownie Cakeball. A little drier than I would've liked but the flavor was good.

Parisian Macarons/each $2~
I wanted to try their macarons but I can't justify paying the price for such a tiny cookie. I still don't understand why they are so freaking expensive EVERYWHERE?!?! Supposedly they are not that hard to make...

Overall the desserts were tasty. The prices are pretty comparable to cupcake places around town. Still all too expensive in my opinion... after a few cake balls it adds up! I mainly just loved the ambiance of the whole place. It's a great place to chill with friends. Sometimes we want a place to hang out after dinner that's NOT a bar or lounge and this could be it! :)

Definitely a cool place to check out. I'll be back in the future to try more of their cupcakes. :D
