Vancouver Part 2: Wedding Celebrations - Family Style!

Saturday night was the wedding dinner for the 2 families. My uncle booked a private room at Kirin. The restaurant was packed. They have fresh seafood...live crabs and fish in tanks out by the lobby. Giant king crabs... very impressive.

This is your typical traditional Chinese Banquet style dinner. Multicourses, large platters, lots of meats and seafood and ending with fried rice/noodles and dessert. SO. MUCH. FOOD....

Combination Platter (cold dishes)
Chicken, Scallops, Clams and Sugar Snap Peas
Shrimp and Crab Balls
Shark Fin Soup. LOVE shark fin... I ate all the shark fin and left the soup! haha.
Lobster. Nice plump lobster. I'm not even a fan of lobster and this was pretty good.
Peking Duck (with wraps). AWESOME! I was so full but I had 2nd helping on this one.
Sauteed Duck Lettuce Wraps. By this course I was about to burst!
Abalone, Mushrooms & Bok Choy
Whole Steamed Fish
Noodles
Fried Rice
Jello (with Goji berries)
Walnut Cookies
Red Bean Soup with Black Sesame Mochi. Love black sesame... I ate the mochi and left the soup here too. haha.
And guess what.. we ended the meal with MORE wedding cake! I already had 3 different slices at the reception just 2 hours before dinner. hahaha. Whew... I really need to work out. XP

I really had every intention to eat better the next day, but we were invited to another family brunch hosted by another relative. Oy!!

Suhang Restaurant (Shanghainese Dim Sum)

Drunken Chicken
Cold Sliced Pork
Sauteed Beans. Surprisingly yummy!
Chinese Donuts. "Yo Tiao" - love this stuff.
Crab Soup
Spicy Crab and Rice Cakes. One of the best dishes of the meal. Pretty epic looking. Great flavors too. The peanuts in the dish was the cherry on top.
Sauteed Shrimp
Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings). A bit sweet. I've had wayy better. We also had crab xiao long bao, which were pretty good. My fav of the day was the veggie dumpling though.
Pan Fried Pork Buns
Green Onion Pancakes. Different than what I'm used to...guess cuz it's Shanghainese style. A bit more crispy and less doughy. I like the Taiwanese style more.
Roast Pork Belly and Spinach. FATTY PORK!! Who can say no to that?!? haha.
House Special Dessert (Fried egg white donuts with colored sugar; red bean inside). Very interesting... super light and fluffy.
There were like 4-5 other dishes in this meal that I didn't get a picture of. Too busy eating! haha. I can't believe we had 3-4 meals like this back to back!! O.O
